Nanny Harvell's Best Cherry Pie

Pie Crust:
1/2 stick butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 to 3/4 cup of flour

Pie Filling:
1 cup sugar
1 cup cherry juice
3 tablespoons cornstarch
2 drops almond flavor
1 little red food coloring
2 cup sour pitted cherries

Pie Topping:
1/2 cup oatmeal (quick uncooked)
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
a little cinnamon
3 tablespoons margarine
4 tablespoons flour

Pie Crust:
Melt margarine and add brown sugar. Add flour. Press into pan and cook 15 minutes at 325°. Check a couple of times and press down.

Pie Filling:
Mix dry ingredients; add juice and mix water to make a cup. Add red food color and almond flavoring. Heat until hot, then add cherries. Cook until mixture is thick and put in crust.

Pie Topping:
Melt margarine; add dry ingredients. Mix and sprinkle on top of pie. Bake 20 minutes at 325°. Serve with Cool Whip or ice cream on top.
